I have an RCA TV that I use as a computer monitor that has a lot of patches of dead pixels. Does anyone know how to fix dead pixels on a TV screen/monitor?

I don't think there's a way to fix dead pixels. Are they all black? If not, some may be just stuck.

Some are green and show some colour and some are completely black.

I have seen screens with dead pixels before, if it were me I would probably install a whole new screen of LCDs (or whatever your monitor has) myself to save money. I don't know of any other fix, but buying the replacement screen is more economical depending on the country you live in and repairing skills.

I mean it's a 5 year old crappy TV and the only reason I use it as a monitor is because it's no longer in my family's living room because of the pixels, so...

    Is it really worth it?

The green pixels are stuck, they can be fixed here, just hover the video over the stuck pixels for a few hours, and hopefully they'll be fixed.

you start hitting your screen with a hammer as hard as you can and then play that video that giraffinator showed you. then get a new monitor

thats how you fix things the right way ;)

there's no way it's worth spending any time or money on a crappy old rca tv

you can get crappy old dell monitors from ebay for like $20

Only way to repair dead pixels is replace the LCD, it's cheaper to get a new monitor. It's not fixable

Sorry for bump but have you tried one of those videos on YouTube, full screen it, max out the TVs contrast and brightness and leave it for 9hrs, it might help the problem, but probably won't fix it entirely

That only works for stuck pixels, ie pixels that work but don't change. Dead pixels cannot be fixed by software or firmware.

Not entirely sure, but I'd say:
A dead pixel would just not work (ie. completely off)
A stuck pixel would get stuck on R, G, B or a mix. It should not appear 'off'

My old laptop, years ago had a stuck pixel that was just green. Never bothered me, so I left it, and a few months later it went black, which it has stayed like to this day, but when it first went black it would sometimes switch between green and black. I don't know if that was the pixel going from stuck, to dead, back to stuck or what. But, I guess that it might mean a black pixel could be saveable. Either that, or mine just decided to get stuck as it died. Guess I'll never figure that out now

Then you will have to put the poor TV out of its misery, dying pixels show that the TV is reaching the end of its life and is suffering. Probably a disease like Glitchitis or Bugs' Disease.
Have any spare monitors/TVs? If not you can buy a TV from your local electronics store. If you cant, then you will have to stick with it.
